Moo Like A Goat!

Good things still happen even though it feels like the end times.

Baby Claudia, my toddler minion, has tripled her vocabulary lately. New words include yellow, bracelet, skull, child, and boobie. And "Miss Moo" 😭

I tried to scoot a three year old off of a book she was standing on and she dozed off on my arm. We had never met before.

All sorts of kids visited to say goodbye for our last day open. Some adults brought gifts.

A second grade class next door begged their teacher for a class visit so they could hug me goodbye.

Six or seven distinct children helped an immigrant practice his English in one afternoon.

I am going to miss these kids.

I've been having a bad day because someone in my life who I look up to for her activism has begun celebrating banning transgender women from sports. I feel betrayed, but I could see it coming. We need to protect the children! Truly protect them!

We need to protect trans children.

We need to protect disabled children.

We need to protect children in the projects.

We need to protect immigrant children and indigenous children and black children.

They need us now more than ever.

I went to a protest outside of Chuck Schumer's home yesterday. I think that one a political landscape of Democrat leadership vacationing instead of answering their phones, making a senator's life uncomfortable is one of the most effective political actions I personally can do. The organizers were rusty and the chants were off meter, but it was good. It felt energizing. It felt cathartic. I made friends with a toddler. If I can't see my kiddos every day, I can demand that people in power fight to protect them.
